It’s been a long time, seconds turning to minutes and minutes growing to hours but I could not allow the hours to grow into days or weeks as I was thinking of right words, better ways of construction for paragraphs, or research to crushing my mind but now I can’t allow it to be a long length of silence! Playing with words to construct meaningful messages is like trying out a puzzle with divided mindset; it can never be right or clear to those you wish to get the message.
Anyway, in my travel and work I always ask people “what is that you are doing to change the news headlines?” Personally I change them by thinking positively and never goin back to the negative things that happened yesterday or a minute ago, I concentrate only to the positive happenings. So change your mind and practice to only lock positivity in your thoughts and at times have lessons from the negative to avoid going back to the same error in future
Am not writing to change my initial writings that have preceded this one but to emphasise more on previous topic of #TembeaKenya and #HiddenKenyanGems above all domestic Tourism in Kenya among we all to the international tourism that is now full of bandaged as a result of travel advisory and evil alshabab.
When was the last time you travelled? A simple question but different answers crop out. When did you last enjoy a boat ride at Uhuru park? When was your last visit at Nairobi national museum? Have you been to Uhuru gardens?
Yes these are among the beautiful destinations we have near us here in Nairobi and not knowing they are admired all over the world yet we undermine them. You don’t really need to travel to the Masai Mara, nor do you need not to head for the Amboseli or go up our snow capped mountain,
However, for sometime now I have been having battles with our tour operators asking them to tell me if we really need to continue to sell same traditional destinations that have been Identification products since when “May be” Sir Winston Churchill came to Kenya, may be even when the dukes or when the princess came on holiday but left as a queen among others. I have been on the advocation of new products that we can take out to the market whether domestic or international or even to our regional markets and create new demand. We have been known as the Premier destination, we have been identified as the Safari capital among other tittles but is that all we can offer?
Someone may ask me what else is there to offer or enjoy as a tourist especially a domestic tourist a good example is what our Cabinet secretary of Tourism just did few months ago Skydiving at Diani if not follow his step and visit Rimoi Reserve that was relaunched by Najib Balala our great cabinet secretary of tourism. Near Nairobi we have Swara Plains famously known as Acacia Camp just near Athi river town, or head to the Kapiti Plains if you are an adrenaline junkie try Bungee jumping or get the thrill of rushing water into rapids and birding on river banks at Sagana
So take the challenge and travel this beautiful country called Kenya. It is cheaper now even to visit the Nairobi national park since KWS (Kenya Wildlife Services) has a bus available every Sunday at Nakumat Moi avenue just next to the Railway Station.
If not so why not take a stroll at the magnificent leisure parks we have around the city such as Jamhuri park, Uhuru park and enjoy that boat ride with the city in the background or go take time to jog at Karura forest then go enjoy the beautiful Jacaranda trees as they pride with their attractive flowers.
In short what are you doing when a white man crosses over oceans, seas, mountains just to come to your country to enjoy the beauty in your country, or someone comes from the other end of the world just to see the snow on top of a mountain in your land, comes to see a lion, comes to see elephants yet yourself you have never seen any nor gone to a national park or a game reserve.
Take the challenge, go out and see your country and what it has to offer or go to visit another town you have never visited.
